Moving our family of 6 from New York down south

House is up!

Wow, it has been a world wind the last 2 weeks. Between school winding down and becoming serious about this move, I sometimes forget who I am and what I am doing. And well, kids… at the end of May/beginning of June….thats a whole other animal.

We took the first step and listed our house on some local social media pages. We received a lot of nosey interest; asking the price, taxes , or wanting to come and take a look inside. We had a few serious buyers, but unfortunately nothing unfolded yet. We will put the house up on Zillow this weekend and hope for the best.

Some of the stress that comes along with moving has been hitting home. I realized if we are doing this, like really doing this, I need a job! I would love to find a remote job, especially being in a new state with no family around. I am hoping this will provide me with some comfort and flexibility. It’s hard trying to see what I can use my teacher skills for outside of teaching kids. I mean I have a lot of skills, I know how to keep 25 kindergarteners in check….but how can I highlight these skills for new profession?

So this is where we are. Still in a lot of limbo!! Hopefully this weekend we land some offers and who knows, maybe I will receive some interest from new job prospects. Fingers crossed! Bye for now!

About Me

Hi There! I’m Nicole!

I’m a girl who loves shopping, decorating and cooking. I have a degree in fashion merchandising and a masters in elementary education. With very active 11 year old triplets and a sassy little 7 year old, life is never quiet.

For years we have talked about moving our family of 6 down south. Every time we travel to the southern states we don’t understand why we come home. We are a family that loves being outdoors and enjoys the constant warmer weather. However, it’s hard taking the plunge. Leaving both of our careers and uprooting our kids from their friends and family to live someplace almost 1000 miles away.

We decided this summer will be it! We will be taking the “talk of moving” and making it a reality. Putting our NY house up on the market and taking a chance will be the first step. We will look for new jobs, schools, and activities for the kids. This blog will document all the good, the bad and the ugly throughout the process of spontaneously moving a family to another state.
